Windows Phone Marketplace Applications, Apps for WP7, Number of WP Applications

Windows Phone continues its rise in more ways than one. Reaching six digits regarding number of apps is well worth mentioning and celebrating. In just over five months, Windows Phone has doubled its numbers to 100,000 applications submitted, with an average daily submission of about 313 apps.

Just over 10,000 of these apps are no longer available, which leaves 88,371 apps being available currently. Still, the milestone is an important one because few other app stores have made it this far.

The amazing thing is how quickly Windows Phone Marketplace gained apps, gaining this milestone five months faster than the Android Market, but three months slower than the iOS App Store. Given the popularity of both competitors, we’d say that developer growth has been strong and steady for Windows Phone, and with an exciting ‘sneak peek’ of the OS’s future (Apollo) coming up in a couple weeks, the trend is likely to continue increasing at an exponential pace.

Here’s hoping we will see the Tru App make its appearance here soon as well!
