Android Desserts, Android ICS 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich

The latest Dashboard numbers for Google’s Android operating system have been released, and it actually looks like Ice Cream Sandwich is steadily consuming more and more of the Android ecosystem.

As of July 2nd, when these numbers were released, one in ten devices is being powered by Ice Cream Sandwich (Android version 4.0) as their choice mobile OS. Gingerbread (Android version 2.3) stands on top of the Android desserts with a 64-percent install base, followed at a great distance by Froyo (Android version 2.2) with 17.3-percent and finally, Ice Cream Sandwich with 10.6-percent.

Android’s newest addition to the dessert and candy table, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) — which was announced just last week at Google’s I/O Developer Conference — was not included in this report since it is not officially available as of yet and won’t be until later this year.
