Nexus 7 software update, Android OS update, firmware fix

Nexus 7 tablet users haven’t had to wait too long to receive the new Android 4.1.1 update; it was just made available on the Android Open Source Project yesterday.

According to sources, the 12.6MB Android 4.1.1 download “improves performance and responsiveness system wide.” The new update adds the ever useful Google Wallet application to your device and adds improvements to the features of Jelly Bean, including Google Now and the notifications. In addition — and we don’t know if it’s just our device or other Nexus 7 tablets as well — but we’ve noticed that the screen will flicker on an off randomly sometimes, an issue that also seems to have been fixed with the update.

Other than that, we haven’t noticed any additional changes or fixes. If you notice something we may have missed, let us know in the comments!
