BlackBerry 10, BB10, Research in Motion (RIM)

Got a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha device? We envy you. Dev Alpha devices just got a lovely little software update this week. Once installed, it provides users with a lovely little feature — voice recognition.

By simply holding down the play/pause button on the side of the device, you’ll be given access to the feature. You’ll be prompted to speak a command and offered a unified search interface similar to what is seen on Android and iOS. Voice recognition is becoming a standard feature for modern mobile operating systems.

Our friends over at N4BB were able to take the new feature for a quick test drive and were kind enough to post a video, which we’ve imbedded below. The feature may be a bit rough around the edges, but considering BlackBerry 10 is still in its alpha stage (leaving little to work with anyway), we can’t complain too much. We’re just happy to see BB10 coming along even though consumers will have to wait until Q1 2013 to see it work in their hands.
