BlackBerry App World, BB World, BB Apps and Music

First Android Market to Google Play, then Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store, and now BlackBerry App World to BlackBerry World. RIM has announced that they are rebranding their store with a new name as their focus turns to an increase in content, specifically music and video content.

The company no doubt made the change in preparation for the launch of its new OS, BlackBerry 10, on January 30th and refers to BlackBerry World as “the one-stop shop for all of your mobile entertainment needs.”

Existing BlackBerry users will see the new store name within the next 24 hours and the rebranding can already be seen in the PC site, though it’s not yet clear what exactly the music and video offerings will consist of. Research in Motion will likely utilize their partnership with 7Digital that was made last October, but the company has not made any announcements. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears on the store to see if we can spot any major changes.
