Podio by Citrix, Video Calling Apps, IM apps

Podio, Citrix’s online collaboration platform service, has officially rolled out its Skype-like video and audio conferencing technology for all its users, bringing the platform more in line with other VoIP and IM programs on the market.

The release features accessible chat histories along with the conference calling, in addition to a newly-released file sharing feature that allows users to share content from Sharefile, Google Drive, Sugarsync, Dropbox, Box, and several other services while still inside the conversation.

The launch of voice and audio chat was announced in May, but it’s taken some time for Citrix to roll the features out to the platform. The video feature is powered through GoToMeeting with HDFaces, another Citrix product.

The addition of video conferencing within a collaboration and productivity platform gives Podio an advantage over similar services such as Yammer and Salesforce Chatter, which do not include this functionality natively, without the assistance of 3rd party applications, and should go a long way in increasing professional team productivity in the workplace. The service can be downloaded on PC, as well as Android, and iOS.
