Viber Releases Version 3.1.2 for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad; Fixes In Tow

At the end of July, Viber released a fun new doodle feature on Android devices, a feature that was released this month on iOS with version 3.1.

The app has already been issued an update that fixes a crash that some users had experienced when first launching the new Viber. The update also incorporates additional bux fixes alongside this one and should hopefully run a lot faster and smoother for Apple users.

The new update should make the Viber experience smoother for Apple users

Like other calling and messaging applications, Viber has been looking at introducing new features that will help it differentiate itself from the growing amount of competition. WeChat recently launched its social gaming platform while Tango launched its gaming platform back in June. Meanwhile, Kik has had games on its app for some time via Webkit-induced HTML5 cards like Squared.

Viber also launched stickers on its messaging platform last year, at least for iOS and Android. Windows Phone support was added last month.

        Hi,I am using android jelly bean 4.1.2. i can’t use latest version of viber.I can hear other person while he can’t hear me.However this problem doesn’t comes if i use viber version 2.2.2.22.
        I don’t understand why i am having this prolem.please resolve

      They do have updates coming in the future, but i haven’t been able to uncover a release date.

      What kind of issues are you experiencing? I’ve been having random close down and battery issues. :(

        Issues like not being able to answer phone calls directly from,locked screen.

        Everytime I receive incoming calls with screen locked and I clicked on the answer button, I will be prompted to unlock the phone. After which Viber will launch itself and I’ll end up with a missed call.

        Another issue is that even when I’m within the app and receives an incoming call, I click to answer the call and the call will get cut off immediately and I’ve got to call the other party back.

        I’ve highlight and feedback to Viber numerous times but have yet to hear anything from them for close to a month.

        This should be fixed with top urgency and not have their resources spent on adding new features to already stable platforms.

            I have reported this matter (not receiving incoming calls alert, only missed call notifications and several other issues) prior to current Windows Phone release and your support simply replied saying that this is not an issue with Viber but with Microsoft and close the case.

            It was only after I escalate the matter to your CEO before they starts acknowledging and look into this matter.

            Still, months after this matter was being looked into, we are not seeing Viber finding the source and fixing the abovementioned matter to Windows Phone. During these periods, we have only seen Viber release major updates and bus fixes to the other 2 major platform.

            If you are referring to Windows Phone 7.x , then unfortunately the answer that our support team gave you is based on true information.

            We don’t ignore or think less of our WP7.x users. We have been trying to work on this problem with the relevant Windows Phone Push Notification developers, and the problem is unfortunately not on Viber’s end. There is a problem with registering the Push Token on the WP7 device, and so Viber can’t ‘know’ when there is an incoming message/call. Once the Token issue is resolved, Viber should start showing up the notifications again, and the problem will be fixed.

            Sometimes, it is helpful to uninstall then reinstall Viber to refresh the Token on the phone, but unfortunately in other cases this doesn’t help.

            It’s important to emphasize that it is also our great interest to have a fully working Viber on WP7.x, and we are doing everything within our power to reach out to the Push developers. Until now, this issue was unfortunately not sorted out.

            That is why our Support team could not give you good news as of yet. When we have any substantial news about this story, we will be sure to let you know.

            Thanks for the prompt reply.

            But the abovementioned issues is based on 2 Windows Phone 8 devices, on both Nokia Lumia 920 and 925.

            I have did several uninstall/reinstall of the app and it will work fine for few days, after which the said problem will return. The good news is that I am no longer experiencing the “not receiving incoming calls alert, only missed call notifications” issues, but the issue with answering of incoming Viber calls from locked screen has been ongoing for months…

    Updated viber on my ipad yesterday which completely destroyed it. I deleted it from my ipad and have tried reinstalling – it just gets stuck syncing contacts. It says that none of my contacts have viber but they all do. Pretty fed up with this…

      If it still doesn’t work even after you try the new update, then it could be that the network you are connected to is blocking Viber’s traffic.
      1. First, please try uninstalling and reinstalling Viber when connecting to a few different WiFi networks (in order to pinpoint the source of the problem). What are the results?
      2. Also, please make sure the following ports are enabled (“forwarded”) on your routers or firewalls:
      TCP: 5242 + 4244
      UDP: 5243 + 9785

      (if you are not sure how to enable ports, you may contact your router manufacturer or your Internet Service Provider)

      * What are the results now?

          The update is 3.1.3, and it should appear in AppStore soon.

          The synchronization of contacts is done periodically, but should not happen consecutively, ALL the time (as you describe). This may mean that your connection is not allowing Viber to connect to our server (i.e blocking Viber).

          That is why we suggested to test Viber when connecting to a few different WiFi networks, allowing us to determine the source of the problem.

            Many thanks for your help – as if by magic my viber has restores itself completely – even showing old messages from before I deleted the app! One more thing – it seems that I can’t send messages via 3G but only with wifi – is that correct?

            Viber should work fine on both 3G and WiFi.
            Some mobile operators across the world block Viber on their 3G network. Usually this happens when users have a “simple” data plan (or a prepaid contract), meaning they didn’t pay extra for using VoIP on their 3G network.

            In order to verify this, we recommend to contact your cell company and confirm this with them.

    Hi since I upgrade iPhone to io7 I can’t answer Viber in locked screen or via Bluetooth in car, calls get lost as soon as I swipe locked on iPhone and in car. Won’t come through car audio :(((

      Hi,

      iOS7 has a new mechanism for unlocking the screen. Upon an incoming Viber call, please make sure that you slide Viber’s notification (and not the unlock slide), and then your Viber call should be automatically answered.

            In the new iOS7 interface, as you receive a new call while the phone is locked, you will be able to perform 2 actions:

            1. Slide the ‘usual’ phone unlock slide, just like previous iOS versions.
            2. Slide a bar (usually at the top of the screen) with Viber’s logo on it. When you slide this, the Viber call will instantly be answered, as opposed to option 1.

      Hi,

      At this stage, one Viber number can be assigned with only one device simultaneously (except for Viber Desktop). When you try registering to Viber with the same number on a second device, the first device immediately deactivates, and its data (message history, Recents, etc.) is deleted.

      What you can do, however, is register your second device with a different number: your home number, an old cellphone number, family’s or friends.
      At the moment we don’t have official information about the option to register the same Viber number on multiple devices. If we have such news in the future, we will let you know :)

    Hi, I am having difficulty answering viber calls on the lock screen. I do slide the viber notification (as opposed to the unlock) but it still makes me type in pass code by which time the caller has hung up.

        I’m having the same issue. iPhone 5s with passcode lock is ON. The call is answered only I go through the passcode. Any idea on how to avoid this (since it’s a corporate phone, the security policy mandates using a passcode.

          Since Viber is a third-party application (and not the phone’s native calling app), then unfortunately there is no way to bypass it on iPhones :(

    Hi.i installed viber to my ipod touch but my contacts showed only 8 a lot of my contacts on my phone have viber and also cant sync. So how if i delete this viber to my ipod touch and install to my new phone..and using same number is it works?
