Messaging app, Truphone messages, Truphone VoIP

Early in September, messaging functionality was added back to Truphone VoIP on iOS devices for the first time since the initial version 5.0 launch nearly a year ago.

Android users, however, have had to be a little more patient in waiting for the feature’s return. Thankfully, Truphone tells us on Twitter that a new version of the app is set to be released “sometime in the next week” that will include this functionality:

While replying to Twitter user @chrisczerwonka, the company also revealed that SMS functionality would be rolled out to the application at a later date, but for now messaging will be restricted to “Truphone to Truphone” only.

As you can see from the screenshot above, the Messaging tile will be added into the application to the left of the Contacts tile in the second row, bringing the grand total of Truphone VoIP App tiles to 6, including Profile, Dialer, History, and Voicemail as well as the aforementioned two.

Narrowing the release down to within a week’s time is as close as we can possibly get without an exact release date. As soon as the new version becomes available we’ll let you know, but for now, you can download the very latest version here.
