Tango Messaging, Entertainment, Tango VoIP App

Let’s face it, without friends, Tango (or any social messaging app for that matter) would be a pretty boring place. Thankfully, Tango makes it easier to add friends both near and far away to your contact list.

First of all, you’ll want to make sure you’ve downloaded the most recent version of Tango onto your device.

For friends in your address book who have Tango, the process of adding them is pretty simple. Users on Android first tap the Menu button and then select Add friend. On the next screen, enter your friend’s Tango information and then tap Save.

On iOS devices, access the Invite tab, then tap on the + symbol. You’ll be presented with a screen that allows you to enter your friend’s Tango information. Once you’ve done so, simply tap Done to finalize the friend request.

Tango, Tango friends, Tango contactsWindows Phone 7 users can tap on Contacts and then tap the + symbol on the bottom left of the screen. Now simply enter your friend’s contact info as described below.

For Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, you’ll want to make sure to enter your friends’ phone number in the full number format, starting with the “+” symbol and followed by the country code, area code, and phone number.

You can send requests to those who also don’t have Tango by inputting your friend’s information (phone or email) into your address book as described above and then from within the app, you can invite them via text or email.

If your friend has a Tango account and you can’t see them in your Tango contacts, there are a few things you can try:

  • Closing and re-opening Tango.
  • Double check the information, making sure the phone number is in the exact format as listed above.
  • Removing carrier codes (if you live in a country that uses them)
  • Delete and re-add your address book contact.

Now that we’ve covered the close friends, how does one go about making new friends nearby who are also using Tango? One of the app’s standout features is its “Make Friends Nearby’ tab, which allows you to do just that.

Currently, the Make Friends Nearby feature is available only on Android and iOS. Here’s hoping the developers will see fit to give Windows Phone 7 and 8 users the same courtesy.

Simply access the Make Friends Nearby tab, and tap on the profile of the person you’d like to add to send them a friend request. Once they’ve accepted, you’ll be ready to Tango!
