WhatsApp, Windows Phone 7.8, Windows Phone 8

While we are currently waiting for a few calling and messaging platforms to hit our Live Tiled lives, WhatsApp continues to deliver a stellar lineup of new updates to Windows Phone devices.

This latest leak of an upcoming WhatsApp update reveals information regarding a few new features from the upcoming update’s beta version, including screen rotation lock, chat bubble font size options, and a Lockscreen setting.

The translation resource file also makes reference to Social Networks, which will allow users to invite friends from social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to WhatsApp Messenger. It may not be the most innovative feature that has come out of the WhatsApp offices, but it’s a welcome one nonetheless.

Windows Phone 7 is also referenced, which likely indicates that the aging operating system will still be supported in the upcoming version of WhatsApp. With 350 million people and counting now using the social messaging service, this should keep us perfectly content as we continue to wait for other messaging apps to arrive (for those of us who would like those alternatives, that is).

For the time being, you can download the latest WhatsApp version here.
