Google Hangouts, messaging apps, chat applications

Just a few short hours ago, Google Hangouts for Android received an update that added — among other things — device, in-call, and mood status, which allow users to share what device they’re using, call status, and current mood.

These features have also rolled out to iPhone, iPod Touch users, along with some unspecified bug fixes and improvements. These are likely stability and speed improvements, though we haven’t experienced anything too noticeable in our tests.

SMS, MMS, and location sharing are still missing in action on iOS

What is noticeably missing in action, however, is SMS/MMS support and location sharing, both of which were added to Android earlier and the last of which we would expect to enable users to choose between Google Maps or Apple’s maps solution. As for these features, Google has not yet specified when exactly these features would be rolling out, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground in the meantime.
