Android, Bing on Android, Skype and Bing

After an update was pushed out to iOS on December 5 and Windows Phone on December 10, Android users have been due for their own update, and Skype delivered this update today, adding a few notable features and some behind the scenes improvements in the process, all of which are available to Android tablet users.

Have you ever wanted to Skype without interrupting your Angry Birds gaming or web browsing session? Well now you can thanks to the addition of the new Picture-in-Picture feature. Now you can search Bing or even browse TruTower and still keep your video call well in view. This is arguably one of the smartest additions to the Skype experience on Android in some time.

Tablet users can also look forward to pinch to zoom in the contact list, allowing easy access to contacts based on their alphabetical listing. Simply pinch your contact list to zoom out to an alphabet, then tap a letter to zoom in.

Some “video messaging compatibility fixes” as well as additional fixes and performance improvements round out the changes for the latest Skype on Android tablets, which can be obtained right here. Don’t forget to pack your stocking with plenty of gift cards while you’re at it.
