ooVoo, ooVoo calling app, ooVoo friends

The holidays have come a bit early for ooVoo users on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices; ooVoo has just made some changes to its calling and messaging app that should have you chatting non-stop well into the new year.

ooVoo has promised its users that the latest release is “the most stable, highest quality video chat” and says they have done some “extensive testing” to the app to ensure “video calls during the holidays are full of cheer.”

“We have done extensive testing to make sure video calls during the holidays are full of cheer.”

ooVoo is, of course, like any social application in that it’s pretty boring (not to mention useless) without friends to share it with, and the developers have made it even easier to find more friends to connect to with its new post-call Friend Suggestions feature. This self-explanatory feature will show you people you can befriend before you place an ooVoo VoIP call.

ooVoo has also enhanced the resolution for 1:1 video chats on wifi for iPhone 4S and above and this has resulted in video call quality that is “four times improved” according to the company.

A new design for friend profiles is the final major addition to the application. ooVoo has optimized the layout of the profiles to encourage more video calls and texting.

Call quality in the latest version is “four times improved.”

Of course, where would an update be without the improved stability and bug fixes we’ve come to know and appreciate? These are there as well, including a fix for iPod touch 4th Gen users who were reporting random crashes.

Get the latest ooVoo here and here’s hoping you have plenty of cool friends to VoIP with this holiday season.
