Nokia X, Nokia X Plus, Nokia XL

WeChat can now be downloaded on the new Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL devices powered by Nokia’s “fixed” version of the Android OS, joining Viberannounced during Mobile World Congress — as well as Skype.

Nokia has committed to connecting “the next billion” smartphone users to the Internet by releasing its first devices running Android™ apps, Microsoft services and signature Nokia experiences.

WeChat for Nokia X will include all the features that make WeChat great

The app will include all of the features that make WeChat great, including “People Nearby,” “Shake” and “Drift Bottle,” and free animated stickers.

“We are thrilled to bring WeChat to the Nokia X smartphone family,” said Bryan Biniak, Global Vice President and General Manager, Developer Experience at Nokia. “We continually aim to bring people the best smartphone experience with our innovative hardware and software, and WeChat is a perfect addition to help people stay connected and share more joy with friends.”

Tencent believes the partnership with Nokia will offer an “enhanced user experience” with the company’s “innovative features paired with the outstanding functionality of Nokia phones.”

WeChat is the fastest growing social media platform with a 379 percent increase in users during the period of Q2 to Q4 2013, topping the GlobalWebIndex’s Q4 2013 report in terms of growth. Don’t have a Nokia X? You can download WeChat for your favorite OS here.
