TextMe, Amazon Phone, Fire Phone Apps

As predicted once Tango rolled out its Fire Phone app, other apps have started to follow suit. In addition to a special optimized version of Tango, we can now look forward to a Fire Phone version of TextMe’s calling and messaging app sometime in the very amaaanear future.

TextMe, which didn’t provide us with an exact time frame for the release, did disclose a few of the details, including a couple of screenshots of the new app as shown embedded below.

“We have implemented a nice home screen widget (with a 3D icon) and a couple of gestures [including] quick access to the dial pad from our inbox by swiping from the right edge or tilting the device to the left,” TextMe co-founder and CTO Grégory Kokanosky explained.

This new version will effectively give TextMe the rare opportunity to claim a presence on all of the main platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and now a specially designed Amazon version, among others. To compare with the earlier announcement, this is in contrast to Tango, which does not have a version built for Windows Phone 8 devices.

Back in June, TextMe launched the ability to use in-app credits in the shop on Android. It will be quite interesting indeed to see how much TextMe messages are improved with a full 3D experience on Fire Phone.
