KakaoTalk, Kakao app, Windows Phone relaunch

Less than two weeks ago, KakaoTalk released a brand new version of its app that brough features exclusive to Windows Phone 8.1 that cannot be found in the Windows Phone 7.5/8.0 version.

Today, the app received its very first update, adding some new features and customization options for users. The full changelog is as follows:

  • KakaoTalk notifications are now displayed in live tiles and on the lock screen
  • You can now adjust message font size.
  • You can now send messages using the Enter key.

KakaoTalk is among one of the most popular messaging applications in the Asian market alongside LINE and WeChat. The app was the subject of a recent merger with search engine Daum and currently controls 74.4 percent of the top 20 apps in South Korea.

If you haven’t already done so, you can download the Windows Phone 8.1 version of KakaoTalk via the Windows Phone Store. Be sure to post your thoughts on how the new version compares to the old one in the comments below.
