WhatsApp for Android, WhatsApp Messenger, Messaging calling apps

While there were some who welcomed the addition of blue “message read” ticks to Whatsapp Messenger, there were others who viewed it as an invasion of their privacy.

There was a sort of workaround to the change that was discovered shortly after, but now you don’t have to worry about having to go through all that trouble, at least on Android.

With WhatsApp for Android version 2.11.44 you can now disable those blue ticks. The feature has been intelligently added to the Privacy section of the Settings menu, and should help some users with enjoying the messaging application a little more.

Right now, the update has only been rolled out to Android, and while there’s no official word on when the iOS and Windows Phone apps will get the feature, it’s definitely something we can safely assume will be on the way soon.
