Threema dark theme, Threema messaging app, secure and private messages

Threema, a messaging app focused on user privacy and security, has just released a new update on Android.

Unlike the last update, which focused mainly on adding file-sending features, the latest improvements focus on design and usability. However, some new functionality has been added into the mix as well.

With version 2.5 for Android, users can choose between a light and a dark theme. You can switch themes by going to Settings and tapping Appearance. The new dark theme not only looks sleek and elegant, it also helps preserving battery life on devices with AMOLED displays.

Other additions and improvements include:

  • storage management for messages, media and files
  • multi-select, multi-delete and multi-forward messages in chat
  • advanced image editing before sending (crop, rotate)
  • new location chooser

You can download the new and improved update on Android via the Google Play Store. Threema is also available via the iTunes App Store for iPhone users and the Windows Phone Store for users of Microsoft’s mobile platform.
