Movies and Music, Magazines and TV Shows, Google Play Android Store

For those in the UK who were looking forward to downloading and reading The Grapes of Wrath from the Google Play store right when they get their shiny new Android tablet or smartphone, you’re going to be a bit disappointed.

Differing copyright laws may keep these new features from being available in the UK with the launch of the new slab, features which were announced by Google at this year’s Google I/O event and were intended to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire as far as international distribution goes.

A Google representative confirmed to The Inquirer that the new Play store content will only be available in the US for the time being, which means the £159 price will buy consumers a lot less in the way of content. Google never did say the content would be available outside the United States, but it still deals a disappointing blow to international consumers who were looking at the Nexus 7 as their next great device.
