BlackBerry 10 SD Card Support, BB10 SDHC Memory Cards, Expandable Memory

If you’re one of those who is anxiously awaiting Research In Motion’s newly revamped iteration of the BlackBerry platform, and you’ve been hoping that the new platform will support expandable memory via SD memory cards, there may be another reason to hope.

The Waterloo-based company recently pushed out an update to its BlackBerry 10 Webworks SDK for developers. The update was apparently aimed at correcting a “sandboxing logic issue” but also packed a little something extra under the hood: new API that allows developers to query for the static readonly full path of the SD card folder on BlackBerry 10 devices.

That makes us wonder if RIM is planning on adding an SD card slot to BlackBerry 10 smartphones. That would be a change after not supporting them in the PlayBook or BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha devices. What do you think? Would you like to use SD cards?
