WeChat logo, WeChat app, WeChat VoIP messaging

There’s no denying the popularity of WeChat and the service just keeps on expanding with over 300 million users worldwide.

WeChat has seen a 200 percent increase in downloads in the UAE and now has 50 million registered user accounts, not bad since the platform just recently launched in the region. WeChat became the most downloaded mobile social application during this time, topping the charts on both iOS and Android devices. The app has also seen the top spot in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico and The Philippines.

The app also had over 50 million users outside of China as of May 22.

This is definitely good news for the platform. Hopefully the success won’t be hindered by the recent ban of Viber in Saudi Arabia, which could potentially expand to include other services, including WeChat.

As always — and not likely to change anytime soon — WeChat is free to download, install, and use on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and more.
