WhichApp, secure messaging apps, private messaging

There are a lot of apps that are vying to keep your instant messages private (you can find many right here),

WhichApp lets you chat with your friends using one of the two available rooms:

  • Classic chat: send text, audio, video and pictures; share your status and mood
  • Ghost chat: is the perfect enviroment where you can share touch-and-go moments having pictures and text automatically removed after few seconds

In both of the above rooms, smart translation is integrated that allows the recipient to receive messages in their native language. Supported languages include Chinese, Italian, English, French, Deutsch, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese.

Ghost Chat lets you send auto-deleting messages a la Snapchat

There’s also a Chat Ghost feature that allows you to send auto-deleting messages a la Snapchat. You can set the expiration time when you’re about to send the text or picture to 5, 10, or 15 seconds.

Like most other messaging apps, WhichApp allows you to search for your friends. The difference between others and WhichApp is the fact that WhichApp requires you to make your profile “public” so you can be found by friends. You can then add each other using a numeric pin, but your phone number is never shared.

So you’re definitely allotted privacy, but are your messages secure with WhichApp? It’s difficult to say without spending more time studying its encryption methods, but so far it looks promising. If you’re interested in privacy, you’ll definitely want to give it a shot. WhichApp can be downloaded via iTunes or Google Play for free. The app is coming soon to Windows Phone, tablet, and PC as well as Mac.
