Holaa app, Nimbuzz apps, Nimbuzz Messenger

After being majority bought by New Call late last month, Nimbuzz has been looking to expand amid large competition, and to that end has launched its new Holaa! app for Android.

Holaa! was created to help sidestep the large spam call problem in India, where Nimbuzz says up to 40 percent of calls are spam related. The app lets you identify unwanted callers as spam and upload the information to a central server. Think of it as a way to crowdsource a list of spam numbers to keep you from getting unwanted contact. Users of LINE‘s Whoiscall feature will see similar functionality here.

Of course the differences are subtle, with everything from Facebook and Google linking with contacts to missed call features and location information. Of course, the app also shows the contact’s photo, which is something you’d expect from a dialer such as this.

While the app is new, it’ll be interesting to see how Nimbuzz evolves it over time. There will also likely be other services created by the joining of New Call and Nimbuzz as well. As for Holaa!, you can download it via Google Play. There will likely be iOS and Windows Phone versions coming soon.
