Microsoft Surface, Windows 8 Tablet, Windows 8 Release Date

Can’t wait to get your hands on one of those Surface tablets? Well, thankfully, it looks like you won’t have too much longer to wait, as Microsoft just confirmed that it will be releasing the new Windows 8 operating system in just a few short months.

Speaking during Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference keynote in Toronto, Corporate VP and CFO Tami Reller announced that Microsoft will be releasing the official Windows 8 operating system to manufacturers next month. She also confirmed that consumers can expect to be able to acquire a Windows 8-powered machine (or upgrade from a previous version of the Windows OS) by October.

There’s not much to report beyond that. We have yet to confirm Tru’s plans on releasing its VoIP application for the new Windows 8 platform, but it likely may be awhile since the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 development cycles are so similar and Tru has not made any official announcements recently regarding VoIP app development for either platform.
