Fring Logo, Fring app, Fringout

Fring is one of the most popular VoIP calling and messaging applications for iPhone, Android, and the now-defunct Symbian OS. The app has seen several improvements from its developers in the past month since the year began, including a switch to a new server that is better and faster and allows users to communicate even easier with friends, family and colleagues around the world for free (video embedded below that provides more details on how to move to the new Fring and take credits and contacts with you).

In December, the Fring app was also updated to include a sleeker and more modern UI and also brought Storyline features to Android smartphones. Storyline integrates voice, group and video calls and text messages from each contact in chronological order. An address book scroller was also added to the iOS version, allowing users to toggle more easily between All, Fring, and Favorite contact groups.

The app now uses a new phone number login/registration process that has made the task of remembering passwords and usernames a thing of the past; The application syncs directly with phone contacts so users can call, text and video right from their address books.

“We are also looking forward to releasing a Multi-Device Login feature for all devices enabling you to have one fring account that can be used from multiple devices,” Fring Marcom Manager Tracey Goldstein told us.

No word yet on whether a version of Fring for Windows Phone 8 or BlackBerry 10 will be released.

“In addition to continuing to serve our users with free communication (voice and video calls, group calls & texting) and even better fringOut rates, in 2013 we have plans to take advantage of Internet networks for communication, advanced smartphone capabilities and a whole new line of features that will help people communicate better, faster and cheaper from wherever they are – around the world, and on their multiple smartphone and tablet devices.”
