Skype for Windows 8, Windows RT VoIP, Skype for PC

The preview version of HD video messaging on Microsoft’s Skype client for Windows Phone 8 and RT devices has officially graduated from preview and is now available for download.

The new version supports high-definition video calling, improvements to the video messaging preview and implements various general fixes. HD video functionality is able to be used as long as the user’s system, webcam, and bandwidth support the feature.

This update improves the video messaging, enabling users to share video messages with contacts whether they’re online or not. Video messaging is now easier to locate with improved notifications in this latest release.

Microsoft has also addressed issues with file sending (sender missing file sent history if restarts app before completing the send), app crashes resulting from a user initiating a file transfer and then immediately returning to the conversation, and a call reconnect and notifications crash.

Ready to try it out now? You can download it from the Windows 8 Store.
