Oovoo, Oovoo app, Oovoo for Smartphones

If you love your ooVoo (and we know you do), you’re definitely not alone. ooVoo Video Chat has won the Tabby Award in the Social category.

The Tabby Awards were produced by TabTimes and the Application Developers Alliance and is the only international competition for the best iPad, Android, and Windows 8 tablet apps.

Specifically, ooVoo won in the Social category for the Android version of its VoIP and messaging application, not an easy feat considering the competition they were pitted against, which included runner up Hang w/.

“It’s no secret that ooVoo’s 82 million users are the most socially connected people on the planet,” Jay Samit, president of ooVoo told us. “ooVoo allows people to share real-time moments with friends and family, and we live at the intersection of mobile and social. We are thrilled to be recognized by The Tabby Awards for our innovations in making the world more social.”

ooVoo released its developer SDK on July 22. The ooVoo app is currently available for download on iOS and Android devices. For those of you sporting Windows Phone devices, don’t worry; ooVoo is planning to release its app for WP8 devices in the near future.

Congratulations to ooVoo for winning a much-deserved award and here’s to more of the same in the very near future!
