LINE, LINE app, LINE earnings 2013

LINE has just announced its quarterly earnings report, and revenues for the quarter certainly made quite a jump, growing a whopping 48 percent for the free calling and messaging application, to 19.1 JPY (about $194 million USD) in the last quarter.

There are now 39 titles available for LINE app’s gaming platform

Total revenue for the corporation’s core business was 9.9 billion JPY, calculated as net sales, with gross hitting 15.6 billion JPY, a growth of 58.3 percent more than Q2, largely attributed to an increase in LINE Game in-app purchases at 60 percent. LINE’s game division now includes 39 titles.

Line Corp also revealed today that Line app is growing in Turkey, Italy, and across Latin America, in addition to the rapid growth it’s seeing in India thanks to spending a lot on TV commercials. Line aims to have 20 million users in India by the end of the year.

The app has 280 million users globally, and owns the largest market share for messaging apps in Japan, Thailand and Taiwan.

The company looks to have 300 million users by the end of the year. If you haven’t tried LINE yet, get the latest version for your device here.
