Voxer, Voxer PTT, Voxer Business Walkie-Talkie

Push to talk and messaging pioneer Voxer has just announced that it has extended support for its enterprise-grade and award-winning Voxer Business platform to Windows Phone 8.

Now that Voxer Business is optimized for Microsoft’s mobile OS, companies that employ users with Windows Phone devices can now communicate in the company’s private network using the existing Voxer application in the Windows Phone Store.

Windows Phone’s increasing market share helped bring Voxer Business to the mobile OS

Windows Phone’s ever-increasing market share and the fact that devices are easily integratable into enterprise environments led Voxer to create a product specifically tailored to the Windows Phone 8 interface.

So how does the new app work? Simply sign into the Voxer for Windows Phone application (check out our review here) with your Voxer Business credentials and you’re ready to go. Of course, this also means you can look forward to all the features that make Voxer great, including live and messaged audio, text, photos and location sharing along with individual and group chats created on the device.

Users can also look forward to some new features as well on the business side, including full access to predefined Teams (group distribution lists) that have been organized through the Voxer Business Manager for easy one touch communication with a specific department or the entire company.

Fulfilling a “core mission”

“To accommodate the growing mobile workforce and the expansion of the Windows Phone device market, we wanted to be sure we continued to ensure support of the full umbrella of leading mobile OS providers,” said Irv Remedios, Head of Product at Voxer. “By introducing support for Windows Phone 8 we are fulfilling our core mission to create a reliable, efficient communication platform for businesses around the globe.”

To sign up for Voxer Business, a company must set up an account with Voxer Business. Once an administrator has set up the account, employees who use Windows Phones are given access to the team-based communication available. A user is sent an email to verify his or her account, create a password and download the Voxer app on their device.

Voxer for Web, which gives users the ability to access Voxer from their desktop browser, also supports Internet Explorer 9 or higher.
