In what could be a play to push the company into new heights with marketing, Viber has appointed Mark Hardy as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Hardy is tasked with the leadership of the Rakuten-owned company’s marketing teams in Brazil, India, Philippines and Vietnam.

“we want to reach an even larger community and expand and deepen our presence”

“We have built an incredible platform since Viber launched just over three years ago and we have grown an enthusiastic and engaged community of users. Now we want to reach an even larger community and expand and deepen our presence in strategic global markets,” Viber CEO Talmon Marco said.

Commenting on his appointment, Hardy said, “The team has created an amazing mobile platform and I look forward to building the brand and introducing new Viber experiences to an ever-growing audience.”

Available across platforms such as Android, Windows Phone, Windows 8, iOS and Blackberry, Viber currently has over 300 million users in 193 countries. It allows users to send free text messages and make voice calls. If you haven’t already, you can download Viber for your favorite device here.
