LINE Get Rich, Monopoly mobile game alternatives, LINE games

It may not be MONOPOLY, but LINE Get Rich, a board game that also happens to be the newest kid on the LINE GAME platform block comes close. The game was just released this week.

LINE Get Rich does have a number of similarities with Parker Brothers’ real estate game. You roll the dice and buy the deeds to the spaces (also called cities) that you land on, and then players who land on that space from that point on have to pay rent (called a toll in LINE Get Rich). Buildings can be constructed that increase these tolls as well. You can even get “monopolies” that let you build these landmarks to increase tolls (more on that later). The game ends when everyone is bankrupt. All of these are echoes of classic MONOPOLY gameplay.

Echoes of MONOPOLY gameplay with unique LINE style elements and features

Where LINE Get Rich stands apart starts to become apparent as you play. Instead of using bills as currency in the game, you instead use Marbles (which makes the phrase “don’t lose your marbles” even more appropriate). Up to 4 people can compete simultaneously, so you can battle it out or cooperate with your LINE friends and family. You can also play alone. The object of the game is to (of course) get as many monopolies as possible to make your opponents go bankrupt.

There are four types of monopoly effects, which are another differentiator for LINE Get Rich:

  • Color Monopoly: If a player controls all spaces of the same color and also has buildings constructed on them, their tolls will be doubled.
  • Triple Monopoly: A player will win if they achieve three color monopolies (triple monopoly) and their monopoly bonus increases by 200%.
  • Line Monopoly: A player will win if they control all the spaces in the same line and their monopoly bonus increases by 300%.
  • Tourism Monopoly: A player will win if they control all the tourism locations (aqua and pink spaces) and their monopoly bonus increases by 500%

Another differentiator can be found in the game’s Cards, which give you different advantages depending on the card. There’s also an RPG element involved in which you can level up and combine these Cards to suit your needs. Dice can also be leveled up and allow you to have more control over which numbers you get as you level them higher. Inviting friends to the game can net you Gold and premium cards, depending on the number of friends you invite.

Where would a LINE game be without LINE’s beloved characters?

Of course, where would a LINE game be without its beloved LINE characters? You’ll see Cony in the game after you reach level 5.

While it may have similarities to MONOPOLY, there’s a lot to be said for being able to play with up to four of your LINE friends simultaneously, and the features included in the game, not to mention the unique LINE style, should be enough to give even fans of MONOPOLY a new experience.

LINE Get Rich can be downloaded on iOS and Android. Don’t forget to download the latest version of LINE using this QR code.
