Facebook Messenger, FB Messenger for WP, Windows Phone app gap closing

If you’re using Facebook Messenger on Windows Phone, you’ll now be able to record and send voice messages thanks to its latest update. The feature is noted as one of Facebook’s “most requested” by the social network.

You can access the feature while you have a conversation open. Swipe up from the bottom to open your options and then tap “Send Voice Clip” and use the red button in the middle of the screen to record (hold to record, release to stop).

The update also adds the ability to send emoticons like smiley faces and also includes other improvements, including some that should help take some of the load off of your data consumption costs.

Facebook has been taking some heat lately for forcing users to login to Facebook Messenger separately from the main application, and the latest version has also sparked some privacy issues, prompting some one-star ratings in the app stores.

The new update is now available in the Windows Phone Store.
