Nokia 808 PureView, 41 Mexapixel Camera, 41mp Cameraphone

Remember when we reported in March that North America would not be getting the Nokia 808 PureView? This was, of course, in large part due to Nokia’s major decision to pull Symbian smartphones completely from the North American market, including the N9. There was really no reason to expect Nokia to turn 180 degrees and change their minds regarding the Nokia 808 PureView.

Well for those of you in the U.S. who were aching to take the 808 PureView for a spin on your Tru SIM service, you’ll be delighted to know that we could be at the very beginnings of that 180 turn, as the Nokia 808 PureView has just landed at the FCC, attempting to secure permission to enter the U.S. market.

While this in no way guarantees that the device will indeed hit American shores, it does lend a tiny glance of hope toward the people living in the land of the stars and stripes.

The Nokia 808 PureView is a titan of a phone, at least in regard to its camera capabilities. Sporting a whopping 41 megapixel camera in all its glory, the device could rival a number of dedicated cameras on the market. And it’s a phone. In other words, a photographer’s dream.

What do YOU think of the Nokia 808 PureView? Sound off in the comments!
