Google Maps, GoogleMaps for Android, Free Offline Navigation

Truphone has just posted an experiment on their official blog that puts Google Maps and the newly-available iOS 6 Maps up against each other in a head-to-head competition to see which app fares better on the Tru SIM network.

The experiment was conducted using Tru SIM and two people who were unfamiliar with London, who walked “rather longish distances” during the test. Many customers use Maps programs when they’re in an unfamiliar country and they’re trying to find local businesses and places of interest.

Overall, Google appeared to win in the experiment, but, as noted by Tru in the experiment, hardware can make a difference, even if it’s only a subtle one.

Take a look at the full experiment on the Truphone blog. Have you used both of these apps? Which do you prefer? Sound off in the comments!
