Windows 8 UI, Modern Metro UI, New Windows 8 Adoption

Microsoft has certainly hit the ground running with its new Windows 8 OS.

According to the Windows Team Blog, Microsoft has sold 40 million licences of Windows 8 since the operating system’s release on October 26th. The milestone was revealed by Windows Chief Marketing and Financial Officer Tami Reller during a speech at Credit Suisse 2012 Annual Technology Conference.

Microsoft had sold four million upgrade copies of the new operating system in just the first few days of sales late October and according to Microsoft is “outpacing Windows 7 in terms of upgrades.” Windows 7 had sold 60 million licenses in a little over two months.

Despite reports that Windows 8 devices are “well below Microsoft’s internal projections,” these results show that Windows 8 licenses doing very well and could mean a steady adoption of Windows Phone 8 devices in the near future as more and more users become accustomed to the new modern UI.
