Nimbuzz, VoIP and messaging, applications

Nimbuzz today has announced a partnership with Spectranet to offer low-cost international calls over internet, with costs as low as 1 paisa per second. Spectranet’s ‘hello ip’ service is powered by Nimbuzz and will allow these calls from across India to all over the world.

The hello ip service is prepaid, and users can recharge their calling credit account on Nimbuzz though credit card payments. A Nimbuzz account is required to take advantage of the service, of course.

This service looks to take on Skype directly, as it works very similar to that of Skype calling cards when using them to make international phone calls. The Spectranet hello ip is for outbound calls only and because of this, it will not be supporting domestic calling within India, though it will work with all data networks, including 3G, 4G, and WiFi. The service will also include 24/7 call and email support.
