Skype Video Messaging, Skype Software, Skype communications

If you’ve been having some issues with the Modern UI (Windows 8 and 8.1) version of Skype not loading when running it on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860 (the most recent build), you might find this workaround quite handy.

Microsoft posted the workaround on its community:

This is an issue with the Webcam Privacy settings in Build 9860. To work around the issue you will need to give Skype permission to use your webcam through “PC settings”.

  • Close the Skype App
  • Launch “PC settings”
  • Select “Privacy”
  • Select “Webcam”
  • Locate Skype in the app list and move the slider to the “On” position

This should solve the issue and has been confirmed to work with the Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860. Hopefully this should keep you Skyping with the new generation of Windows.
